About us
Since opening our doors in Doncaster in 2020, under the wing of Ian West's incredible teaching reputation, branching out to Edinburgh has been a dream come true. Our aim was simple: to share our love and passion for music and instruments through education. This remains true today. Having taught 100s of students over 4 years, we continue to enjoy exploring the opportunities that Edinburgh has to offer.
Meet your tutor
Our tutor, Spike, is a passionate guitarist, bassist, and drummer, specialising in jazz, funk and pop music. Armed with a Level 6 Diploma in guitar, a Level 3 BTEC in Jazz guitar, a 2:1 Honours degree in Jazz, and 4 years of experience in private, classroom, and peripatetic teaching, he can teach students from complete beginners to advanced players.
When he isn't teaching, he enjoys playing over 40 gigs a year with acts like Dennis Rollins, Doncaster Jazz Orchestra, Luke Winslow-King, Roberto Luti, Giles Headly, Ibiza Project, Full Fat Funk, Fee Buckton, Ian West, The Dons, and many others. He has had the opportunity to perform at amazing venues such as: The Royal Albert Hall (London), Tramlines Festival (Sheffield), The Earl (Doncaster), The Cast (Doncaster), Ronnie Scotts (London), Birmingham Town Hall, Wedstock (Leeds) and countless more.

We have all sorts of musicians take lessons with us, from young students who want to learn an instrument from scratch and mature students who have always wanted to play an instrument to musicians wanting to take their playing to the next level. Spike's university level education gives him the facilities to help you prepare for an audition, grades or to join a band!

We offer more than instrument lessons. Our tutor is a full-time musician and is able to offer a unique perspective to developing as a professional or gigging musician and with his in school teaching experience, he can provide a fun, safe and efficient learning environment for beginners.
A safe space to learn
Ensuring a safe and comfortable place to learn is a top priority. All tutors are fully DBS compliant and will happily provide a copy of this if you wish. Parents are free to sit in on lessons and get involved. Additionally, Children and Adults with SEN requirements are important to us. Our tutor's have experience with many SEN's and will happily help in which ever way possible. Please get in touch to learn more.
